We need not feel frustrated and discouraged when we fall again and again. When we find it hard to break patterns of sin and break out of bad habits. It is all a journey, full of ups, downs, winding roads, steep slopes and climbs, bumps and once in a while smooth lanes.
All these are great reminders of our constant need for Christ, we are totally at a loss without Him.
Though we be in Christ, we are all work in progress. The only ones who are finished are those who have died in Christ. And our walk in Christ is not always so smooth, it will be progressive in one season, stunted in another, and we'll be straying in another.
We are told, some times, that we can actually be fully perfect while here on earth, unable to sin. But that is furthest from the truth, we grow in holiness, we grow daily in Christlikeness. Our sanctification is a process.
When we accept Jesus as our LORD and savior, we are justified (because He takes our punishment and we take on His righteousness), then we are progressively sanctified (a lifelong process), and then we are glorified when we die (because then we are no longer flesh but spirit, eternally perfect)
May I, may we not grow weary of growing, albeit slowly. Of striving hard to be break patterns of sin by God's grace. Of relying on God's strength, for when we are weak, then we are strong.
Proverbs 24:16 "for though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again, but the wicked stumble when calamity strikes"
Romans 12:2 " Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."
2 Cor 3:18 "And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit"
God bless you.
